LEBARAN

Holiday is a time that all people are waiting for because they can rest from their daily activity. There are many kinds of holidays; Lebaran is one of them. All Moslem people around the world celebrate this occasion merrily. Lebaran is one of the happiest occasions, as these three illustrations will make it clearer.

The first reason is in Lebaran all the member of the family is on the same place. All of us will be at my grandma’s place. In Lebaran we have a very old tradition; it is called “sungkeman”. This “sungkeman” take place after ied pray. The “sungkeman” it self has a rule. Before we do the “sungkeman” all if the member of the family should queuing. The older child of my grandma’s will be in the front of the line and the last child will be at the back. It happens to the grandchild and the grand grandchild, so all of us queuing in the same line which is very long like a train.  The other tradition is almost all the member of the family will cry and spend a lot of tissue to wipe away their tears. The cry things never happen to me and I do not know why I do not cry and they cry. I thought that well maybe I am too young to understand it but even I am older now, I still do not cry. It does not mean I am not in into the situation but I am can not cry because I have no reason to cry I guess.

Second reason is in Lebaran I can get some cash out from my relatives. After the “sungkeman” the member of the family that not married yet and have no job will say queuing again. The queuing here means queue to get the cash out from the relatives that already have a job. The amount of the money is different from one to another. It depends on your age. The older you are, the more cash you will get. Some people might not agree with that but it is the culture of my family. Another rule about it is, as long as you are not married yet and have no job or jobless, you will get the cash. I still get the cash till now since I am not married yet and have no job.

The last reason why I like Lebaran is I can eat “kupang” as much as I want. In Lebaran day, there are a lot of food are served in my grandma’s place. We will eat “ketupat and friends” in my grandma’s place. After few hours all of the member of the family will come to my niece’s place to eat again. In my niece’s place there are a lot of menus too but the menus are different. “Ketupat and friends” is served in my grandma’s place and other menus like fried chicken, “kupang”, “sate kerang”, and meat balls are served in my niece’s place. The menu that I like the most is “kupang”. She can make a very tasty “kupang”. I really like to eat “kupang” because it is my favorite food but since I I have an allergy to it, I can only eat “kupang” once in a year. The allergy will not come as for as I just eat kupang once in a year.

Is it possible to have another occasion as the happiest one? Of course from my three reasons above; the “sugkeman”, the cash out, and the “kupang” make Lebaran is the happiest occasions for me.

The Advantages of Watching Television

From very long time ago, people had already known how to transform information in many different ways but only when the first television program was broadcasted, a new age had begun, the age of image transformation. Television nowadays has been very popular, and almost every family all over the world has the access to it. By sitting comfort and nicely at home, watching TV, you can get a whole look all over the world. Almost every house or even every room has at least one television. Television gives us many channels or programs that we can choose to watch everyday. We can get a lot of benefits by watching television. There are three programs from television which have many advantages.

First, television has the advertisement programs. People can know a new product on the market through the advertisement. It provides the function of a new product for the people who want to buy it, and people can make the decision about whether to buy the product or not. Of Course, television also becomes an important role for the company. Advertisements always use different ways to introduce their product in order to attract people to buy it. The company can use the advertisement in the television to increase their product’s selling.

Second, another program which has a lot of advantages is the news program. Television provides the news everyday, and people know what happens all over the world. For example, a big accident or war which does not happen in your neighborhood or in your country, will be introduced it in very detail. We can know the latest information without looking or coming directly to the place. People can have the knowledge of what is happening, and have a reaction. Now the news or information is faster and easier to know.

And the third, the most watched program by the people is the entertaining programs. Television is also a kind of relaxation, for instance, movies or films, cartoons, comedies, or even the soap operas are shown by the television stations, which entertain people in their leisure time. We can watch those programs with the whole family. Moreover, watching television is a kind of activity for which you don’t have to move much, so you will not loose a lot of energy. In addition, if we want to travel but do not have enough money, we can enjoy traveling in the TV (for example watching the discovery channel or national geography channel). Even all those programs can make you forget your job or even your problems for a while.

From those explaining above, we can conclude that watching television does give us many advantages which are very considerable. We can get the information about things or new products that are introduced in the advertisement; we can know the latest news from all over the world from the news program, and even just for relaxation by watching the movies. As we know now, watching television is not a waste of time.

Lebaran Day as the Happiest Occasions

Every year, Muslims celebrate Lebaran Day. They celebrate it after fasting for a whole month. In the morning on first day of Lebaran, Muslims go to the mosque to do Sholat Ied. Then, Muslims forgive the others’ mistakes that they have ever done. They also do many kinds of activities that could make everyone glad all day long. The activities are gathering with families, enjoying delicious food, and receiving pocket money (especially for children). Because of those three reasons, Lebaran Day is one of the happiest occasions for Muslims.

The first activity after Muslim do Sholat Ied is that they gather with their families. Let’s say, for example, student who studies out of their hometown or someone who works in other province. They will go home to celebrate Lebaran Day with their lovely families. If they have members of the families who live far away from their hometowns, they will take a trip and hold an event to gather all of them together, it could called a kind of reunion. Because meeting with families on Lebaran Day gives joyfulness for them.

Besides gathering with families, Muslims have some special food on Lebaran Day. Take, for instance, ketupat with chicken opor and also cookies. Ketupat is made of rice which is wrapped with young leaves of palm and it has square shape. Muslims usually eat it with chicken opor. Then, opor is kind of soup which is made of coconut milk as the liquid. The coconut milk gives the strong taste to the soup, and it will taste good if it is eaten with ketupat, they are right combination after all. About cookies, it is prepared if there are some neighbors or visitors come in to someone’s house to say Happy Lebaran Day. Those two kinds of food are most important meals which are supposed to be prepared on Lebaran Day.

Lebaran Day is not perfect yet before receiving pocket money, especially for children. They receive it from their grandparents, their uncles, their aunts, and even from their neighbors. Remembering this habit, teenagers usually do not receive pocket money anymore. Perhaps, this is because the adults think that teenagers do not need the money to buy snacks. Actually the needs of the teenagers are much more than the children. Teenagers are not really need money to buy snacks, but they need money to buy some stuff, such as clothes and accessories. And they could buy it from the money that is given by their own parents. So that, Muslims give the pocket money only for the children.

Over all, gathering with families, enjoying some delicious food, and especially for children who are receiving pocket money are kinds of activities which could make Muslims glad all day long on Lebaran. Lebaran Day gives Muslims a special moment to show the thankfulness to God. They celebrate Lebaran Day happily, and they always wait for the next Lebaran. When Lebaran is over, Muslims share they experiences during Lebaran Day, and some of them use Lebaran Day as the topic of their essay assignments. Lebaran Day as the happiest occasions will always memorized by Muslims.

Speaking more than one language is a great advantage

Since we faced the globalization era, it is a common for us to see people talking more than one language. Job opportunities become wider and also influence people to mobile from one place to another. The possibility to study, learn or work abroad is increasing from time to time. Someday, you will meet those people. Foreigner for example tends to use English as their daily language. To prevent misunderstanding and communication breakdown we need to learn other language that commonly used by most of people around the world (English for instance is language that became international language). As the three explanations below, we will have better understanding why, “speaking more than one language is a great advantages”.
The first reason why speaking more than one language is a great advantage is it really will help us in communicate with other people. As we know the globalization era make the opportunity of people to travel become wider and easier. It is possible for us to meet people from all over the world. They came for different reasons; vacation, working, studying or even seeking a better life. People scattered to every part of the world very far away even from their origin country, they are moving from one place to another as fast as you tough or even beyond your imagination.
The second reason why speaking more than one language is a great plus for us is it will make us easier in finding a job. As we know, English is the languages that used by most of the nations or even has become the language of the world since the globalization era begin. Furthermore many companies are affected by this situation; they made English as the perquisite of their employees.
Employees must good in speaking and writing English so that the company itself will not have any difficulties making cooperation with foreign or expanding the company overseas.
The third reason why speaking more than one language is a great benefit for us is it will always assist us in our life. As we know some jobs like economic entrepreneur, social entrepreneur, politician, archeology, etc need to go to certain places that have different languages, cultural aspects, and societies. That why those jobs require us to master more than one language. As a social entrepreneur for instance, their primary job is to solve social problems that occur in different societies and nations, when they are sent to do survey and observe in certain country they will face the communication barrier if the local villager could not speak their language or neither also the team. Based on that situation they probably can make some misjudgments or worse. So, to prevent that problem they need to master more than one language to make sure that they will do the right thing.
It is possible that there are still more advantages in speaking more than one language. But, as the three paragraphs have told us I can conclude that those reasons (to communicate with others people, to seek a job, to assist our life) are the most valuable aspects in speaking more than one language.

The Great Advantages of Speaking More than One Language

In era globalization, everything was changed. As a human being, we have to try to open minded and do not reckon on one way. Everyone wants to be better. They may do all of things that it can make them better. Many aspects can posses in the era-development, for example technology, education, and skill. As we know, technology is also developing till now, so it caused the competition to each other right now. They must competitive to get the additional information. On the other hand, we know that there are many languages in worldwide, for example Indonesian, English, Spanish, and so on. We might be familiar with them, because those give the advantage for us in our life, especially when we communicate with another people. One thing that we need to master it is speaking way. Speaking is necessary for all over people in the world. Without speaking, we do not tell our thought to another people. If we can speak the foreign language, we are able to chat to each other in the worldwide. Communication is the important thing for us, right? Besides that, we can get lots of information from the internet, if we learn to speak another language. Then, in the next advantage, we can get a new job easily, when we are able to speak more than one language. We can also go abroad and take the scholarship. It is because there are many scholarships which emphasize for studying in the foreign country. So, it will make us feel easy in this life. Hence, speaking more than language is a great advantage.

Everyone wants to share their mind with other people. First advantage is we will chat to each other wherever we do, for example in the campus, school, office, public service, and so on. Due to this reason, it may help us to communicate to another people around the world. Even, we also get lots of friendships that make us be popular. It is because some people said that if we try to make friendship with foreign people, we can be popular and get additional information from them, for example we know about the culture and language in certain country. Then, learning another culture is very attracting, because we can compare with our country and also promote our culture in another country through speaking . We certainly get a pride from this and also have already participated to introduce our culture. It is possible if we can also help the government. On other way, many people in wide world know about internet. Internet has relation with speaking, because almost every people can browse the internet. Even, through internet we get information and chat to others people in the world.

Second, consider that speaking also help us to get the better job and also develop our job to be better. As we know, many business that including English or another languages to get a high position. Moreover, in this era, that reason is necessary for the people who are going to get a new job. According to the information that I once got, several offices have already used IELTS or TOEFL for the applicant. Business and commerce are increasingly driven by international trade and if we are going to grow in our job we need to able to follow this trend. On the other hand, we can build a building which is for courses, if we have speaking ability. Besides we can improve our skill, we also get many experiences about how to make speaking to be useful for all people over world.

The next advantage is we can go abroad wherever we want. It means that we might be able to study in foreign country, for example in America, Australia, England, and so on. As we know, many scholarships that include to study in those countries and some people are interesting about that. Even, almost some scholarships also use speaking for the interview, when we want to study in those countries. Speaking into foreign language is the important point to choose which person that is suitable in certain job. In that case, we can see that speaking more than one language is more useful.

In general explanation, speaking more than one language offers us some advantages. We have to realize it, because we are demanded to face in globalization era. Even, we must competitive with others people through speaking. From the explanation above, we get clearly the new things about the advantage of speaking. It can help us to chat with another people in the world, especially communicating to each other, get a new job and develop our job/career, and also go abroad to foreign country. Although every country has different way about speaking, but speaking more than one language brings us to be better in this world.
